The purpose is to extend the life of the pavement and structures within the project limits by resurfacing I-376 and the interchange ramps, performing bridge preservation work to 20 structures, and implementing safety improvements such as a full concrete median barrier and highway lighting replacement from Edgewood to Monroeville.
Work will include milling and paving the existing I-376 and all ramps from the Commercial Street Bridge to the structure that carries I-376 over Business 22, bridge preservation to 20 structures, painting, bearing replacement, backwall replacement, floor beam retrofits, approach slab replacement, concrete repairs, and other miscellaneous construction.
Additional anticipated work includes median barrier replacement, drainage improvements, guide rail updates, minor traffic signal work, highway lighting replacement, signing updates, and updates to pavement markings and delineation.
This project will coordinate with the other Parkway East projects throughout the duration. This project will also utilize the 25-day closure occurring next year on the Commercial Street Bridge project to reduce the impact to the public.
