Additional Project Information
The majority of construction is anticipated to occur while two lanes of traffic are maintained across the bridge (one in each direction), but full closures will be needed to complete certain operations. Currently, several 5 to 10-day closures are anticipated in 2026 and 2027, followed by an approximate 2.5-month closure in 2028. Detour/closure timeframes and durations are subject to change based on the contractor's schedule, means, and methods.
Environmental Features
The McKeesport-Duquesne Bridge, Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad, Union Railroad, and B&O Railroad are all either listed or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
