This is a proposed project to replace part of the bridge that carries Route 5 over Six Mile Creek in Harborcreek Township, Erie County.
The bridge is located on Route 5 (East Lake Road) between the intersection with Rockledge Drive and the intersection with Ledwick Street.
The project will include replacing the upper portion of the bridge, known as the superstructure, with new steel beams and a concrete deck. Work will also include minor paving on each side of the bridge, as well as updated guiderail and roadway painting.
Work is expected to occur in the 2027 construction season.
The existing bridge was built in 1933. It is classified as poor condition and is posted for one truck at a time. Approximately 6,200 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.
Traffic Impacts
A detour will be required during construction and is expected to be in place for approximately three months. The proposed 12.3-mile detour route includes Route 955, Route 20, and Route 89.
