The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to a virtual plans display regarding the Route 2001, Section 351 W Cemetery Street Bridge Replacement Project over Sugar Notch Run. The purpose of the project is to provide a sustainable crossing over Sugar Notch Run by replacing the existing structure with a new box culvert that addresses the structural deficiencies, and provides continued access to residents, businesses and emergency services.

The project consists of replacing the existing structure, which consists of a stone masonry arch at the inlet end of the structure and reinforced concrete box culvert at the outlet of the structure, with a precast reinforced concrete box culvert. Additional proposed work will include approach pavement reconstruction and guide rail upgrades. The proposed approach roadway width will consist of 2 - 11’-0” travel lanes and 8’-0” shoulders.

Additional Project Information

The project will be constructed under a 2.6-mile detour extending into Hanover Township and the City of Wilke-Barre using Route 2008 (South Main Street), Route 2005 (Blackman Street), and Route 2010 (Hazle Street & North Main Street). The detour will be in place for approximately 4 weeks to complete box culvert installation.
