Municipality: City of Sharon
State Route: Route 62
Local Name: Route 62
Project Type: Highway Restoration
MPMS Number: 97912

This is a proposed project to improve Route 62 from Liberty Street to the Ohio state line in the City of Sharon, Mercer County.

The proposed project includes reconfiguring the roadway to create protected left-turn lanes on Route 62 at the Budd Street intersection and maintain one lane of traffic in each direction to northeast of Budd Street. The plan also includes minor widening of the right-turn ramps on Budd Street.

Additionally, the plan includes milling and paving from Liberty Street to the Ohio state line and a short section of S. Irvine Avenue, as well as upgrades to the traffic signal hardware and phasing, sidewalk, drainage, guide rail, signs, and roadway paint and markers.

Work is expected to occur during the 2027 construction season.

Traffic Impacts

A detour for large trucks turning right from Budd Street to Route 62 will be required for approximately one month in mid-spring. The proposed detour uses Route 718 (Dock Street) and Route 62.

Other portions of the project will require lane closures and traffic controlled by flaggers.
