Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing ramp restrictions on I-376 (Parkway East) in Wilkinsburg Borough, Allegheny County, will begin Friday night, November 6 weather permitting.
Starting at approximately 9:00 PM on Friday, a lane shift will occur on the following I-376 ramps as crews conduct bridge and ramp repair work through late December:
· On-ramp from Wilkinsburg to westbound I-376
· On-ramp from Wilkinsburg to eastbound I-376
· Off-ramp from westbound I-376 to Wilkinsburg (Exit 78B) exit
Additionally, these ramps will be reduced to an 11-foot width. The ramps will remain open as crews conduct work.
The $100 million I-376 (Parkway East) betterment project will resurface the interstate and interchange ramps from the beginning of the Commercial Street Bridge in Edgewood Borough to the Monroeville (Exit 80) interchange in the Municipality of Monroeville. Additionally, bridge preservation to 20 structures including painting, approach slab replacement, concrete repairs, and other miscellaneous construction activities along with extensive drainage updates and a full concrete median barrier replacement. Safety improvements including a full highway lighting replacement from the Edgewood (Exit 77) to the PA Turnpike interchanges are included in this project. During the project, travelers can expect overnight and weekend lane restrictions on I-376 as well as short-term and long-term full closures of the interchange ramps. This project will be coordinated with other I-376 projects in the area. The overall project is anticipated to conclude in the spring of 2028. The Trumbull Corporation is the primary contractor.
