The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announces a Plans Display for the State Route SR 3026 (Smith Hill Road) structure crossing of Appenzell Creek. This bridge replacement project is in Jackson Township, Monroe County.

The purpose of the project is to create a safe crossing for SR 3026 (Smith Hill Road) over Appenzell Creek that meets current design criteria. The project is needed due to the existing structure being in poor condition. The existing structure over Appenzell Creek consists of a half stone masonry arch, half reinforced concrete slab bridge. The scope of work will include replacement of the single span half reinforced concrete slab / half masonry arch structure with a precast reinforced concrete box culvert. Other improvements will include full depth roadway reconstruction of the approach roadways to provide an appropriate cross slope and guide rail.

It is anticipated that the fabrication of the structure will begin in late spring 2027 and continue to winter 2027 and construction will begin in early spring of 2028 with an anticipated completion in late summer/fall 2028.

The purpose of the plans display is to introduce the project and receive public input regarding any questions or concerns with the project.
