This is a proposed project to replace the bridge that carries Union LeBoeuf Road over a branch of French Creek in Erie County.
The bridge is located on Union LeBoeuf Road at the border of LeBoeuf Township and Union Township and between the intersection with Route 97 and the intersection with West High Street (Route 2008).
The proposed Union LeBoeuf Road Bridge Replacement Project includes replacing the existing timber bridge with a new single span steel bridge. Work will also include minor paving at each side of the bridge and updated guide rail.
Work is expected to occur during the 2028 construction season.
The existing laminated timber slab bridge was built in 1975. It is classified as poor condition and is posted with a 13-ton weight limit. The bridge is owned by LeBoeuf Township. Approximately 500 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.
Proposed Traffic Impacts
The proposed plan includes a detour for approximately eight months. The proposed 4.4-mile detour route uses Route 97, Route 8, and West High Street.
