Repair of soil slide on Overton Road (Route 3002), due to flooding in 2018 that occurred in Albany Township and New Albany Borough. Work includes construction of four new retaining walls to repair areas of damage, replacement of the existing culvert carrying Overton Road over Ladd’s Creek and resurfacing of approximately one-half mile of roadway from the culvert east to Fawcett Avenue. Traffic is currently detoured using Route 220 and Hatch Hill Road (Route 3004).

Work planned for the 2025 construction season includes starting soil slide repairs on the four retaining walls. Additional work includes installation of a box culvert to improve drainage.

There will be a winter shutdown and work will continue into 2026.

Work in 2026 will include completing the retaining walls, roadway reconstruction, paving, installation of guide rail, new roadway signs, and line painting.

LTT Trucking, LLC., is the prime contractor for this $12.4 million embankment repair project. Work on the project began in the fall 2024 and is anticipated to be completed in the fall 2026.

Additional Project Information

October 2025 UPDATE

As of October 17, 2025, work on retaining wall #2 is 90% complete, with the final concrete being placed along the top of the wall. Work began on retaining wall #2 in March of this year and is on schedule to be completed by November. The 191-foot wall is located in the western portion of the project.

The replacement of the box culvert carrying Overton Road over Ladd’s Creek is scheduled to take place at the end of October. Work includes removal of the existing culvert, installation of a new concrete box culvert, and backfill. The replacement of the culvert is anticipated to be completed in November.

In 2026, retaining walls 1, 3, and 4 will be constructed, the roadway will be reconstructed, and new guide rail and signs installed. Combined, the four retaining walls total approximately 791-feet in length, which would be a little longer than the length of two football fields. LTT Trucking, Inc., is the prime contractor for this $12.4 million soil slide repair and box culvert replacement project. The project is on schedule and anticipated to be completed in the fall 2026, weather permitting.

The first project was located approximately a half mile north of Overton Road in Overton Township. Work included widening and cutting back the embankment to improve sight distance.  The second project was located at the intersection of Hatch Hill Road and Deck Road (T-386). Work included drainage improvements and the removal of a barn.  Construction was completed on these projects in the summer 2022.
