This project, located mainly in Coraopolis Borough and Stowe Township, Allegheny County will replace the existing pavement on sections of Route 51 and Route 3092. Work is anticipated to begin in spring of 2027 and is necessary to improve the pavement structure for long-term stability and to reduce the frequency of maintenance repairs. The project includes full depth repair and reconstruction areas on both routes.
On Route 51, the project for the eastbound lane (State Avenue/Fourth Avenue) will include asphalt mill and resurface beginning near Vine Street with an area of concrete reconstruction from Thorn Street to Thorn Run Road. The westbound lane (State Avenue/Fifth Avenue) will include asphalt mill and resurfacing and extend only to Barn Street in that direction.
On Route 3092, the project will include mill and resurface between Pine Hollow Road and Route 51 (Island Avenue) with brick removal and full depth asphalt reconstruction on Broadway Street between Seventh Street and Ninth Street and on portions of Seventh Street between Woodward Avenue and Broadway Street.
Detour Information
Traffic detours will be necessary during construction on both routes due to the full depth reconstruction areas.
Anticipated Route 51 traffic detour:
- Traffic will detour along Locust and 5th Avenue for the concrete reconstruction area.
Anticipated Route 3092 traffic detours:
- Traffic from Broadway Street will detour along Dohrman Street, Russlewood Avenue, and Eleventh Street.
- Traffic from Ninth Street will detour along Woodward Avenue, Dohrman Street, and Russlewood Avenue.
- Traffic from Tunnel Way will detour along Russlewood Avenue, Dohrman Street, and Woodward Avenue.
