State Route: 1024
Local Name: Ridge Road
Project Type: Highway Restoration
MPMS Number: 102810
Proposed Construction Start: Anticipated Spring 2028

Last Updated: June 2, 2026
Ridge Road (Route 1024) in Point Township was originally constructed in the early 1930s and has experienced ongoing pavement deterioration, drainage concerns, and roadway limitations that affect ride quality, maintenance needs, and overall safety. This project is intended to restore the roadway between the Route 147 interchange and Route 11 to improve long-term performance, safety, and reliability for the community.
Proposed improvements include roadway rehabilitation and resurfacing, drainage improvements, guide rail upgrades, tree trimming and removal where needed, and adjustments to roadway curves to improve safety. These improvements will help extend the life of the roadway while maintaining its rural character.
The rehabilitated roadway is proposed to include widened shoulders to provide more consistent roadway conditions and improved safety for drivers.
Several existing small bridge structures are proposed to be replaced, including the bridge adjacent to the Spruce Hollow Road intersection, which is proposed to be slightly realigned to better accommodate turning movements and improve sight distance.
Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2028 and be completed in 2030. The schedule may change as the design process progresses.
Additional Project Information
Preliminary engineering activities are currently underway, including survey, environmental studies, and design development. Additional project details will be provided as design progresses.
Property impacts, if needed, will be identified as design progresses. If right-of-way acquisition is required, affected property owners will be contacted directly by PennDOT.
Traffic Impacts
Traffic impacts are expected during construction. The project team will evaluate options to maintain access to homes, farms, and businesses throughout the project. Temporary lane restrictions and/or detours are anticipated to be necessary during construction. More detailed traffic information will be shared closer to construction.
