The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) held a virtual public meeting on Thursday, January 19, regarding the project to improve Haverford Road in Haverford Township, Delaware County. The project involves implementing a partial road diet on Haverford Road from Landover / County Line Road to Karakung Drive to enhance safety. The proposed road diet will reduce the number of travel lanes to one lane northbound along the corridor and one lane southbound on certain sections, with a center two-way left turn lane. This will enable dedicated left-turn lanes on the Haverford Road approaches at the eight signalized intersections within the project area. The partial road diet will be achieved through repaving the roadway and modifying pavement markings within the existing curb lines. The traffic signals at the eight signalized intersections will be upgraded to support the new lane configuration. Additionally, the ADA curb ramps and pedestrian facilities along the corridor will be assessed and upgraded as needed to meet current ADA standards. Members of the public who were unable to attend can view a recording of the meeting and access the materials here.
