The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to view plans for a project to repair and extend the service life of five large pipes under roadways in Mercer County.
The proposed work involves the preservation of corrugated metal plate pipe arches with rebar and concrete facing, known as shotcrete, along the inside of each structure. The proposed project includes clearing and grubbing, and minor guide rail work as needed. Work will generally take place beneath or adjacent to the structures.
The following locations are included in the project:
- Pulaski Mercer Road (Route 3007) over Risa Run in Shenango Township.
- Pulaski Mercer Road (Route 3007) over Harthegig Run in Lackawannock Township.
- Dutch Lane (Route 3035) over Pine Hollow Run in the City of Hermitage.
- Kingsman Road (Route 4004) over Big Run Branch in West Salem Township.
- Sheakleyville-Greenville Road (Route 4020) over Spring Run in Salem Township.
The existing structures were constructed between 1950s and 1980s and are rated in poor condition.
No detours are expected in connection with the project. Some work could require lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers.
There will be temporary right-of-way needs at the pipe on Sheakleyville-Greenville Road in Salem Township.
Construction is expected to take place during the 2026 construction season with bid openings anticipated in June 2026.
