The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to an online plan display regarding the Route 222 bridge maintenance project.
The project is located over Route 1040 (Colonel Howard Boulevard) in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, approximately 0.5 miles southwest of the PA Turnpike (I-76). Route 1040 primarily serves the interchange for the PA Turnpike.
The purpose of the project is to perform bridge maintenance activities to extend the service life of the structure and continue to provide a safe crossing for the traveling public.
The project maintenance activities include, but are not limited to: concrete repairs and patching, bridge expansion joint replacements, bridge railing repairs, steel girder repairs, abutment slope wall repairs, and full bridge painting.
To successfully perform the maintenance activities, short-term lane closures and restrictions can be expected on both Route 222 and 1040 during active construction periods.
