The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is currently planning the Route 3008 Section 02B (West Mud Pike) over South Glade Creek Bridge Replacement Project. The project will include the removal and reconstruction of State Route 3008 bridge over South Glade Creek. The existing structure will be replaced with a bridge consisting of two 10-foot travel lanes and two 2-foot, 3 and 3/8 inch shoulders for a clear width of 24-feet, 6 and 3/4 inches. Portions of the approach roadway will be reconstructed to connect to the new bridge. The work is to be completed using a detour.
Background Project Information
On August 9, 2024, after a planned inspection, PennDOT implemented a bridge-width restriction on the Route 3008 bridge. The two lanes approaching the bridge were reduced to a single lane crossing over the bridge with signage instructing motorist to yield to oncoming traffic. The bridge, a mile outside New Centerville between Route 3017 (Chickentown Road) and Trinkey Road, carries approximately 550 vehicles per day.
