The Days Mill Road (Route 3042) bridge rehabilitation project is located over South Branch of Codorus Creek in North Codorus and York Townships, York County.
The purpose of this project is to replace the deck and provide continued safe and efficient crossing of Days Mill Road (Route 3042) over South Branch Codorus Creek. The project involves the replacement of the bridge deck while keeping the existing abutments and pier. Proposed sheet pile walls, minor approach roadway reconstruction, along with guide rail, pavement marking and signing updates will also be completed as part of the project. No impacts to South Branch Codorus Creek are anticipated. The proposed roadway curb to curb width will remain similar to the existing conditions with 10-foot lanes and 4-foot shoulders.
This section of Days Mill Road (Route 3042) has an average daily traffic volume of 3,783 vehicles per day.
The bridge will be closed for approximately 3 months to all traffic during construction. The proposed traffic control plan will utilize a detour during construction. A single detour for both car and truck traffic is anticipated. The detour has an approximate length of 3.6 miles and will utilize Indian Rock Dam Road (Route 3044) and Route 182. Please refer to the project’s Detour Plan graphic.
There are overhead utilities in the vicinity of the project that will be relocated for deck construction.
The project is currently in design, and construction work is anticipated to begin in July of 2027 and last approximately 3 months.
The purpose of the plans display is to introduce the project and solicit public input, questions, or concerns regarding the project.
