    The proposed project consists of the replacement of the bridge carrying SR 2045 (Funk Road) over an Unnamed Tributary to Ironstone Creek in Colebrookdale Township, Berks County.

    The existing structure consists of a single span, concrete-encased steel I-beams and is in poor condition. The structure’s total length is approximately 23'-0”, and the out-to-out width is 16’-6" accommodating two lanes of vehicular traffic with no shoulders or sidewalks.

    The proposed box culvert will carry two 11’-0” wide lanes and two 4’-0” wide shoulders, for a total curb-to-curb width of 30’-0”. The proposed structure will have the same general orientation as the existing structure. The project also includes guide rail upgrades as well as minimal approach roadway widening and resurfacing to meet the top of the proposed structure. 

    Additonal Information

    The existing bridge is currently closed to traffic. The construction of the bridge will be performed using an existing detour. A map of the Ironstone Drive detour is available in the Resources section of this page.
