This project involves the replacement of the existing bridge that carries Route 1015 (W Juniata Parkway) over Cocolamus Creek. The project site is located in Greenwood Township, Perry County. The structure is approximately 0.5 miles south of U.S. 22/322 and 4.5 miles north of Newport. The roadway work associated with the project will consist of the following:

- New pavement markings
- Signage upgrades
This section of State Route 1015 has an average daily traffic volume of 3069 vehicles per day.
The bridge will be closed during construction, and an 8.9 mile detour will be used to direct traffic around the closure. The detour will utilize US 22 between the Millerstown Interchange and the Newport Interchange.
Overhead utilities are present at the site, and relocation is anticipated.
The project is currently in design, and construction work is anticipated to begin spring of 2028 and last approximately 4 months.
Additional Project Information
Impacts to land within or adjacent to the project site will be limited to areas required to construct the proposed roadway and structure along West Juniata Parkway. The land use surrounding the structure is comprised of four parcels – one of which is a residential property, one houses a storage facility, one houses a wastewater treatment plant, and one houses soccer fields for the Millerstown Area Community Park.
Environmental
The project is located in a rural setting with rolling terrain. The land use surrounding the structure is comprised of four parcels – one of which is a residential property, one houses a storage facility, one houses a wastewater treatment plant, and one houses soccer fields for the Millerstown Area Community Park. There are no bicycle or pedestrian facilities identified within the project limits. Other environmental efforts for the project include investigating historical, archeological, and aquatic resources as well as threatened and endangered species.
Right-of-Way
Temporary and permanent right-of-way acquisition from all four properties are anticipated to allow for construction of the project.
Maintenance and Protection of Traffic
Traffic using West Juniata Parkway will be detoured around the project site during construction of this project. The detour will utilize U.S. 22 between the Millerstown Interchange and the Newport Interchange. The designated detour for this project will be 8.9 miles.
