    The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to a virtual plans display regarding the Route 2010, Section 352 North Main Street Bridge Replacement Project over Former Pocono Northeast Railroad. The purpose of the project is to provide a sustainable crossing over Former Pocono Northeast Railroad by replacing the existing bridge with a new box culvert that addresses the structural deficiencies, and provides continued access to residents, businesses and emergency services.

    The project consists of replacing the existing single span composite adjacent concrete box beam bridge carrying traffic over Former Pocono Northeast Railroad with a precast reinforced concrete box culvert. The culvert is sized to accommodate a future Delaware & Lehigh (D&L) Trail in Ashley Borough. Additional proposed work includes approach pavement replacement, sidewalks, drainage upgrades, fencing, and ADA compliant facilities. The new bridge will match the current roadway width and provide 2 travel lanes and total width of 30’-0” curb-to-curb.

    Additional Project Information

    Traffic control during construction is still being evaluated. Access for residents and businesses between the bridge and the intersection with Hazleton Street will be maintained and pedestrians will be accommodated during construction.
