Project Overview

County: Crawford and Venango
Municipality: Centerville and Sugarcreek
State Route: 1041 and 4001
Local Name: Sparta Street and Two Mile Run Road
Project Type: Slide Repair
MPMS Number: 115533 and 119858
Proposed Construction Start: 2027
Last Updated: 09/14/2026

This is a project to repair areas on two roads in the northwestern region - Sparata Road and Two Mile Run Road.

The project aims to correct and support the ground conditions underneath and adjacent to the roads, which are considered in poor and declining conditions.

The proposed work at each location based on the needs and improvements will include the installation of underground support systems. Proposed work at each location also includes road repairs as well as guide rail and drainage updates.

Work is expected to be completed during the 2027 construction season.

The estimated construction cost is approximately $1 million to $2.5 million, which is to be paid entirely with federal funds designated for diminishing the effects of natural disasters, such the areas prone to flooding and landslides. Under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), the Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-saving Transportation (PROTECT) Grant program provides funding to ensure surface transportation resilience to natural hazards including climate change, sea level rise, flooding, extreme weather events, and other natural disasters through support of planning activities, resilience improvements, community resilience and evacuation routes, and at-risk coastal infrastructure.
