The bathtub section of I-376 Westbound is a 2,500-foot-long portion of the interstate within Allegheny County and lies between the Monongahela River and downtown Pittsburgh. This segment of the three-lane highway (two through lanes and one auxiliary exit lane) is roughly 5 feet higher than the normal river stage of 16 feet and is currently protected by a variable height floodwall with a minimum height of approximately 4 feet at the sump pump locations.  Proposed construction will include increasing the height of existing flood walls that will reduce the frequency of flooding on the interstate.  In addition to the construction of floodwalls, this project will include installation of micro-piles to address hydrostatic uplift pressure that is exerted on the existing structure beneath the westbound pavement materials. Lastly, the project will review and upgrade the sluice gate, pumps, and dry standpipe at the two sump locations along this corridor.

The project is anticipated to begin construction in 2026.
