This local project is a bridge replacement for the bridge crossing Westland Run on Ullom Road in Chartiers Township, Washington County. The existing structure is a one-span, one-lane bridge with a temporary timber pier for support. The existing structure is in serious condition and has a weight limit of 3-tons. The proposed bridge will be a one-span, two-lane bridge with a widened right shoulder for pedestrians. The proposed structure will be constructed approximately 20' South of the existing structure. The new structure will not have a weight restriction.
Local Project
This project is sponsored and managed by a local partner, Washington County, which is responsible for design, scheduling, stakeholder engagement, public comments, and construction. PennDOT provides oversight and technical assistance because the project receives state and/or federal funding, ensuring applicable funding, bidding, and construction requirements are met. The local partner is responsible for receiving and responding to public comments. Washington County owns and leads the project; PennDOT provides funding oversight, guidance, and regulatory review.
