The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to the Jackson Township Supervisors meeting where plans will be presented regarding the Route 492 (Jackson Street), Section D50 Culvert Replacement Project over Little Bulter Creek.

The purpose of this project is to address the structural deficiency of the existing structure due to its age and condition and to provide continued safe and efficient access over Little Butler Creek.

The project consists of the replacement of the existing single-span concrete slab bridge supported on concrete abutments with a precast box culvert. The permanent approach roadway work will include tie-ins with the existing. Stream restoration work will be completed upstream and downstream of the proposed structure to address streambed stability and sediment transport issues. Additionally, guide rail upgrades and drainage improvements within the project limits will be incorporated into the project. One overhead utility line temporary relocation is expected to be necessary to construct the project.

Traffic Control

A detour will be implemented during construction. The detour will utilize Route 547, Route 848 (Harford Road) and Interstate I-81. The detour is 15.3 miles in length and is expected to be in place for approximately two to four months. Local access to driveways will be maintained during construction.

From points east of the bridge, head south along Route 547 for 3.6 miles towards Route 848 (Harford Road). Continue straight on Route 848 (Harford Road) west and travel 2.2 miles. Turn left onto I-81 north on ramp and travel 4.2 miles to Exit 223.

From points west of the bridge, head south along I-81 and travel 4.3 miles to Exit 219. At end of off ramp turn right onto Route 2081 and travel 0.1 miles. Turn right onto Route 848 (Harford Road) east and travel 2.3 miles towards Route 547. Continue straight on Route 547 north and travel 3.6 miles. Turn left onto Route 492. End of detour.
