The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to an online plan display regarding the Route 772 (Mount Joy Rd) bridge maintenance project.
The project is located over Route 283 in Rapho Township, Lancaster County, approximately 2 miles northeast of Mount Joy.
The purpose of the project is to perform bridge maintenance activities to extend the service life of the structure and continue to provide a safe crossing for the traveling public.
The project maintenance activities include, but are not limited to: concrete repairs and patching to bridge piers and beam ends.
To successfully perform the maintenance activities, short-term and long-term traffic control is expected on Route 283 There will be no reduction in number of lanes.
The project is currently in design and construction is anticipated to take place during the 2027 construction season.

Environmental
The project is located approximately two miles northeast of Mount Joy in a mixed rural and suburban setting with the adjacent land use commercial, agricultural, and residential. No wetlands were located near the existing bridge location. Coordination for the Indiana bat will be included as part of the project. No identified historic resources, public parks, state forests, or state gamelands are located in the vicinity. There is no documented hazardous, residual, or municipal waste near the immediate project area.
Utilities
No utilities are currently present in the area. Based on the scope of work, there would be no impact to any unknown utilities.
Right-of-Way
All maintenance activities will be completed within existing right-of-way.
Maintenance and Protection of Traffic
To successfully perform the maintenance activities, short-term and long-term traffic control is expected on Route 283. There will be no reduction in number of lanes.
Schedule and Cost
Construction is anticipated to be during the 2027 construction season at an estimated cost of $400,000.
