    The May Post Office Road culvert replacement project is located along May Post Office Road over an Unnamed Tributary to Little Beaver Creek in Strasburg Township, Lancaster County. The purpose of the project is to replace the existing culvert pipe array. 

    The existing structure was built in 1976 and consists of three corrugated metal pipes.  The overall structure length is approximately 19 feet-0 inches.

    The existing pipe array will be replaced with a buried precast concrete box culvert with precast end sections. Additional work includes utility relocations, reconstruction of the pavement within the project limits, minor roadway geometric adjustments, guide rail upgrades, and rock placement around the wing walls for scour protection. The roadway width over the proposed culvert is 30 feet-0 inches between faces of guiderail. 

    This section of May Post Office Road carries a daily traffic volume of 5,209 vehicles per day. Environmental activities completed include a wetlands study, environmental due diligence form, and an historic eligibility survey for one property.

    The proposed construction schedule is approximately 6 months with the bridge closed to traffic. The proposed 3.7-mile detour will utilize Weaver Road, Bunker Hill Road and Shaub Road. Access to all driveways within the project limits will be maintained during construction. 

    Current construction cost is estimated to be approximately $862,000.
