The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to a joint, in-person and virtual plans display regarding the Route 4007 (Miller Road), Section 270 Structure Replacement Project over Ackerly Creek. The joint, in-person public meeting will take place on Tuesday March 10, 2026, at the Waverly Township Building (8 Lake Henry Dr, Waverly, PA 18471) at 6:00 PM during the Township’s regularly scheduled monthly Township Supervisors’ Meeting.

The purpose of this project is to address the deficiencies of the existing structure and provide continued safe and efficient crossing of Ackerly Creek.

The Route 4007-270 project consists of replacing the existing stone masonry closed spandrel arch culvert with a precast concrete box culvert. The reconstructed Route 4007 roadway (Miller Rd) and structure will consist of two 11’-0” travel lanes with 3’-0” shoulders.

Additional work includes, but is not limited to: approach roadway reconstruction, guide rail upgrades, drainage improvements, grading, signing, and pavement markings. One utility line relocation is also anticipated as part of the project.

Traffic will be maintained through a detour during construction. The proposed 2.0-mile detour will utilize all state routes.

The project is currently in the preliminary design phase. It is anticipated that construction will begin in the spring of 2028 and will be completed by the fall of 2028.

Additional Project Information

Route 4007 detour directions:

The roadway at the bridge site will be closed to all traffic and detoured during construction. The detour is expected to be in place for approximately three months.

Beginning south of the project, the vehicle detour will follow Route 407 North (Abington Road) until reaching Route 632 East (Carbondale Road). Travelers will turn right onto PA-632 East (Carbondale Road) and then continue until connecting back onto Route 4007 (Miller Road) for a total detour length of approximately 2 miles.
