Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing a long-term single-lane restriction on northbound South Braddock Avenue in Edgewood and Swissvale boroughs, Allegheny County, will begin Monday, April 13 weather permitting.
Starting at approximately 9:00 AM Monday, South Braddock Avenue will be reduced to a single lane in the northbound direction between Allenby Avenue and Monongahela Avenue around-the-clock through mid-July. The current weekday single-lane restrictions from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and overnight from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM will continue in the southbound direction on South Braddock Avenue through late May. All I-376 ramps will remain open.
Crews will conduct concrete repairs, jacking, dam and bearing replacement, and other work on the I-376 (Parkway East) bridges and ramps above the roadway.
The $100 million I-376 (Parkway East) betterment project will resurface the interstate and interchange ramps from the beginning of the Commercial Street Bridge in Edgewood Borough to the Monroeville (Exit 80) interchangein the Municipality of Monroeville. Additionally, bridge preservation to 20 structures including painting, approach slab replacement, concrete repairs, and other miscellaneous construction activities along with extensive drainage updates and a full concrete median barrier replacement. Safety improvements including a full highway lighting replacement from the Edgewood (Exit 77) to the PA Turnpike interchanges are included in this project. During the project, drivers can expect overnight and weekend lane restrictions on I-376 as well as short-term and long-term full closures of the interchange ramps. This project will be coordinated with other I-376 projects, including working during the Commercial Street Bridge Replacement project’s 25-day closure for the existing bridge demolition and lateral slide of the new bridge in July of 2026 to reduce impacts to the public. The overall project is anticipated to conclude in the late fall of 2027. The Trumbull Corporation is the primary contractor.
