    The proposed scope of work for the Charlestown Road bridge over Pickering Creek includes a Latex Modified Concrete (LMC) overlay and replacement of the deck joints. Additional work includes zone painting of the beam ends, cleaning and painting of the bearings, and minor repairs to the substructure. Spall repairs will be made to the barrier, and the timber railing will be replaced. A scour hole will be filled, and rock protection will be added. Roadway work will include milling and an LMC overlay. There will be no modifications to the existing guiderail or the guiderail connections to the bridge barrier.

    Due to the nature of the project, the bridge will need to be closed and detoured. The anticipated detour is 4.3 miles, and the route uses Route 29 (State Road) and Pothouse Road (SR 1036). An alternative detour route is 5.2 miles long, using Church Road (SR 1017), Pikeland Road (SR 1026), Merlin Road (SR 1023), and Coldstream Road (SR 1028). No temporary construction easements will be required.
