    Charlestown Road over Pickering Creek Bridge Repairs

    The proposed scope of work for the Charlestown Road bridge over Pickering Creek includes a Latex Modified Concrete (LMC) overlay and replacement of the deck joints. Additional work includes zone painting of the beam ends, cleaning and painting of the bearings, and minor repairs to the substructure. Spall repairs will be made to the barrier, and the timber railing will be replaced. A scour hole will be filled, and rock protection added. Roadway work will include milling and overlay for the LMC overlay. There will not be any modifications to the existing guiderail or the guiderail connections to the bridge barrier.

    Due to the nature of the project, the bridge will need to be closed and detoured. The anticipated detour is 4.3 miles, and the route utilizes Routes 29 and 1036. An alternative detour route is 5.2 miles long, utilizing Routes 1017, 1026, 1023, and 1028. No temporary construction easements will be required.
