    The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is currently advancing a series of phased projects that will focus on improving safety and mobility along a six-mile corridor extending from U.S. 1 (City Avenue) to Woodland Avenue. Driven by a history of crashes and fatalities, the project seeks to address speeding, aggressive driving, and pedestrian safety concerns through a combination of roadway, intersection, and pedestrian crossing improvements. Recommended measures include traffic signal upgrades, raised medians, enhanced pedestrian crossings, targeted road diet treatments, streetlight upgrades, and guide rail improvements. The project incorporates extensive public input and aims to create a safer, more accessible corridor for motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users while improving overall corridor operations.     Project Phases

    This phase of the project includes the roadway safety improvements between Chestnut Street and 67th Street.

    This phase of the project includes construction of concrete curb medians, traffic signal interconnection, and Philadelphia Water Department water and sewer betterment between Market Street and Springfield Avenue.

    This phase of the project includes the roadway safety improvements between City Avenue and Market Street. Improvements in this phase are expected to be similar to those delivered during Phase 1. As this phase is still in the early stages of planning, further details will become available as the project moves forward.
