Additional Project Information
HISTORIC PROJECT INFORMATION:
The intersection was studied as part of the Central Bradford County Traffic Study (2012) and the Wysox Intersection Improvement Study (2018). These studies collected and analyzed safety and traffic data and identified opportunities to improve the intersection; see the Improvement Opportunities document in the Resources section at right.
We are aware of the impact of the nearby railroad grade crossing on both the existing and proposed intersections. An extended blockage of the grade crossing will adversely affect the performance of the intersection in any configuration. While roundabouts generally provide safety advantages when compared to signalized intersections, site-specific factors must be evaluated and sound engineering judgement must be applied. At the Wysox Township location, lengthy closures of the adjacent grade crossing are better mitigated by a signalized intersection.
Pending completion of environmental clearance and design activities, construction is expected to begin in fall 2026 and conclude by fall 2028. All impacted roads will remain open during construction. Grade-crossing impacts on the intersection
