The proposed project is located on PA 924 (Main Blvd) in East Union Township, Schuylkill County. The project consists of three (3) structure replacements. The project goes from North to South and will be referenced in ascending order with Bridge Sec 08B being the northernmost structure located 2,640’ north of the intersection of Phineyville Road/Foose Lane intersection. Bridge Sec 07B is the middle structure located 1270’ north of the Phineyville Road/Foose Lane intersection. Bridge Sec 06B is the southernmost structure located 120’ north of the Phineyville Road/Foose Lane intersection.
The purpose of this project is to replace the structures 06B, 07B & 08B which carry SR 0924 over Catawissa Creek.Between 110 ft. to 160 ft. of approach roadway will be reconstructed on either side of each of the structures. The existing profile will have minimal changes for the three structures. The existing structures will each be replaced with a precast reinforced concrete box culvert with precast end sections. A detour will be required during construction to remove and replace the structures.
Work is estimated to begin in Fall 2027 and last two construction seasons. The 06B bridges will be constructed in Fall, 2027. The 07B and 08B bridges will be constructed in Spring, 2028. The acquisition of right-of-way and temporary construction easements are anticipated to complete the work.
