The Route 115 Section D53 project is a drainage improvement project in Bear Creek Township in Luzerne County, PA.  The purpose of the project is replacement of the existing storm sewer drainage system which consists of old corrugated metal pipe with new Reinforced Concrete Pipe or Thermoplastic Pipe, replacement of existing bituminous curb with concrete curb, shoulder repairs from washouts, guide rail replacement and replacement of existing culvert on the Unnamed Tributary to Laurel Run which addresses structural and hydraulic deficiencies of the existing structure, and provides continued access to local residents, businesses, and emergency services. Utility relocations will take place in order to safely construct the project.

Traffic and local residences and businesses on Route 115 and will be maintained using half width construction.

Access to the intersection with Route 115, Swanson Road and Old East End Blvd will be restricted and detoured.

It is anticipated that construction will begin spring/summer 2027 and will be complete by fall of 2029.  

Traffic Control

A detour for Swanson Road and Old East End Boulevard will require traffic to access Route 115 at the Intersection of Pittston Blvd & Route 115.  The .8-mile detour for Swanson Road will utilize Route 2039 (Pittston Blvd).  The .5-mile detour for Old East End Blvd will utilize T-467 (Pittston Blvd). e 2048.
