The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that two bridges in Mercer County have reopened and the detour for a third is scheduled to be lifted later this week.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that two bridges in Mercer County have reopened and the detour for a third is scheduled to be lifted later this week.

The bridge on Route 58 over Wolf Creek in the Borough of Grove City opened on August 23, 2025. There is a lane restriction on the bridge as repairs continues between the intersection of Route 58 and Route 173 and the entrance to Grove City College. The project is expected to be completed in October.

The new bridge carrying Scrubgrass Road (Route 2014) over Wolf Creek in Wolf Creek Township also opened on August 23, 2025 when work was completed.

The new bridge carrying Forrester Road (Route 2017) over Cool Spring Creek in Fairview Township, Mercer County is expected to be lifted and work completed on August 29, 2025.

Combined, the projects represent a nearly $4 million investment in the Mercer County transportation system with repairs and replacement of three bridges previously rated as poor condition.

This year PennDOT’s Northwest Region expects to work on more than 100 projects. To see a full listing of all the anticipated work, check out the 2025 Construction Book located under the Partner Resources section at www.penndot.pa.gov/District1.
