Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing the double-lane restrictions planned on eastbound Interstate 70 for last weekend have been rescheduled to occur Saturday, October 5 beginning at 7:00 PM through Monday, October 7 at 6:00 AM. The restrictions will be between Exit 18 (North Junction - Pittsburgh) and Exit 20 (Beau Street) in Washington County.
Only one lane will be open around the clock on eastbound Interstate 70 while the restrictions are in place. Motorists can anticipate significant delays and should plan accordingly.
Crews from Swank Construction are performing resurfacing and concrete rehabilitation along this stretch of roadway as well as a 2.5-mile span of I-79 in southwestern Pennsylvania -- a $5M infrastructure preservation investment. All work depends on weather and operations.
Work includes concrete patching, dowel retrofit, full-depth corner repair, and spall repair of mainline concrete. Improvements will be made to drainage facilities and earth mounds placed between north and southbound travel lanes. Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) will be updated and connected to the regional network. Bridge decks will be repaired, and bridge seals will be replaced. New signing, delineation, and guide rail will be installed on the mainline of I-79. Completion is expected in early November.
