PennDOT's Westmoreland County Maintenance Update – Week of October 28, 2024

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of October 28. All maintenance activities depend on weather and operations.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Box repair:

  • Route 819 (Diamond Street) in Mount Pleasant Township 

Cleaning tail ditches:

  • Route 1017 (Wilpen Road) in Fairfield and Ligonier townships 

Pipe flushing:

  • Route 31 in Mount Pleasant Township
  • Route 2033 (Bethel Church Road) in Cook and Unity townships 

Pipe repairs:

  • Route 1017 (Wilpen Road) in Fairfield and Ligonier townships​

Patching:

  • Route 3073 (Wesley Chapel Road) in East Huntingdon Township
  • Route 1033 (State Park Road) in Derry Township
  • Route 2025 (Ankney Hill Road) in Mount Pleasant Township
  • Route 711 in Cook and Ligonier townships
  • Route 30 in Cook and Ligonier townships
  • Various routes countywide 

Shoulder cutting:

  • Route 3071 (Arona Road) in Hempfield Township
  • Route 3097 (Baltzer Meyer Pike) in Hempfield Township
  • Route 2012 (Depot Street) in Hempfield Township 

Slab repair:

  • Route 3013 (Vance Dei Cas Highway) in Rostraver Township 

Sweeping:

  • Route 119 (Connellsville-New Stanton Road) in various townships
  • Various routes countywide 

Crews will pick litter, replace downed and update signs, and address work orders on various state routes countywide.

PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices by calling 5-1-1 or following regional X alerts.
