Bridge Maintenance Begins Monday Night in Washington and Westmoreland Counties

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing overnight single-lane restrictions scheduled to begin Monday night, October 28, on the following roadways in Fallowfield and South Strabane townships, Washington County and South Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland County.

The overnight restrictions will occur nightly – 9:00 PM-6:00 AM – and are anticipated until the morning of Friday, November 1. Specific locations and corresponding municipalities are detailed on the attached maps. All work depends on weather and operations.

Washington County

  • Interstate 70 at North Junction (sheet 31)
  • I-70 over I-79 at North Junction (sheet 33)
  • I-70 over Route 19 (sheets 35 and 36)
  • I-70 Speers Bridge over Route 88 (sheet 38)
  • Route 8011 over Vance Station Road (sheet 58) 

Westmoreland County

  • I-70 Matthew Smelser Memorial Bridge over Youghiogheny River (sheet 60) 

Crews from Green Acres Contracting will perform bridge-bearing cleaning, scupper cleaning and flushing as part of a districtwide maintenance contract for 82 bridges throughout Fayette, Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland counties – an infrastructure preservation investment of $486K.
