This is a project to replace the bridge that carries Service Avenue over Pine Run in the City of Sharon, Mercer County.

The bridge is located on Service Avenue between the intersection with the Memorial Boulevard and the intersection with East Connelly Boulevard (Route 62).

The project includes removal of the existing bridge, construction of a concrete culvert, paving, drainage, guiderail, sidewalk, ADA ramps, and utility relocation as needed.

Construction is expected to begin July 13, 2026, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by December 2026.

The contractor is A Merante Contracting of Pittsburgh, PA. The contract cost is $1,396,917.9, which is to be paid entirely with federal funds.

The existing bridge was built in 1951. It is classified as poor condition and is posted with a 13-ton weight limit. Approximately 1,650 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average. The bridge is owned by Mercer County.

 

A public comment period was held will be from April 23, 2025 through May 7, 2025.

Proposed Traffic Impacts

The project will require a detour, which will be posted using Plum Street, Spencer Avenue, Leslie Street, Stambaugh Avenue, and Route 62. It is expected to be in place for six months.
