The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is developing plans for a project that includes the replacement of three Somerset County bridges – two on Route 2017 (Brush Creek Road) in Allegheny and Larimer townships, and one on Route 2020 (Poorbaugh Road) in Northampton Township.
These projects include the Hillegas Run Bridge Replacement on Route 2017 (Brush Creek Road) over Tributary of Hillegas Run near the intersection of T-469 (Miller Road) in Allegheny Township; the Poorbaugh Run Bridge Replacement on Route 2020 (Poorbaugh Road) over Poorbaugh Run near the intersection of Glen Savage Road in Northampton Township, and the Mance Tributary to Wills Creek Bridge on Route 2017 (Brush Creek Road) over Tributary of Wills Creek near the intersection of T-660 (Witts Road) in Larimer Township.
The project consists of box culvert replacements of three bridge-structures along the routes with minimal approach roadway work for each. Detours will be implemented during construction.
For those interested in learning more about these projects, a public meeting and plans display is scheduled for Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the New Hope Church, 3404 Cumberland Highway, Meyersdale, PA 15552. The plans display will be conducted in an open house format. The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed project.
The meeting location is accessible to persons with disabilities. Anyone having special needs or requiring special aid is asked to contact PennDOT prior to the meeting. If you require additional information concerning the meeting, please contact Cristy L. Shumac, P.E., PennDOT Project Manager at 814-696-6820 or cshumac@pa.gov.
