    Minor Delays Expected April 27 to May 22 on Route on Route 655 (Big Valley Pike) in Huntingdon County for the start of a Bridge Replacement Project

    The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is informing drivers of the potential for minor delays from a lane restriction and temporary signal-light on Route 655 (Big Valley Pike) north of Mill Creek in Huntingdon County beginning Monday, April 27, 2026, for the start of a bridge replacement project.

    Quaker Sales Corporation of Johnstown is the lead contractor for the $1,430,538 bridge rehabilitation project, which includes replacing the 118-year-old I-beam structure over the Flush Run-Mill Creek tributary near the intersection with Fireman’s Park Lane with a precast concrete box culvert. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2026.

    Drivers can expect minor delays – three (3) to five (5) minutes – from a single-lane restriction under the direction of a temporary signal-light. Traffic will run on a temporary road built around the bridge. A temporary pedestrian crosswalk will also be used.

    As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Drivers should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.
