Detour Begins June 8 for Route 3029 (Copper Kettle Highway) Bridge over Middle Creek Replacement Project in Milford Township, Somerset County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is informing drivers of a planned detour of Route 3029 (Copper Kettle Highway) in Milford Township, Somerset County, next month.

From Monday, June 8, to approximately Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the contractor will be implementing a 13-mile detour of Route 3029 (Copper Kettle Highway) in Milford Township, Somerset County, for a bridge replacement over Middle Creek and pavement rehabilitation project near the intersection of T-703 (Chippewa Road).

The detour for 3029 (Copper Kettle Highway) will use Route 281 (New Centerville Road), Route 3010 (Indiantown Road), and Trent Road.

J.F. Shea Construction, Inc., Mount Pleasant, Pa., is the lead contractor for the $1,359,748.25 project to replace the bridge over Middle Creek, repair deteriorating concrete and apply a high-friction surface treatment to the road.

As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Drivers should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.
