The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is informing drivers of a planned detour of Route 2026 (Berkleys Mill Road) in Summit Township, Somerset County, for a bridge replacement project over the Blue Lick Creek tributary.
From Thursday, July 16, to approximately Tuesday, August 25, 2026, the contractor will be implementing a 9.1-mile detour of Route 2026 (Berkleys Mill Road) using Route 2025 (Maple Valley Road), Route 2024 (Walker School Road) and Route 2027 (Pine Mill Road).
Pugliano Construction Co., Plum, Pa., is the lead contractor for the $834,078 project to replace the Route 2026 (Berkleys Mill Road) bridge over the Blue Lick Creek tributary, which involves the replacement of the existing bridge-structure with a new pre-cast box culvert. The scope of work will also include minor approach paving and guide rail updates.
As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Drivers should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.
