The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is informing drivers of a planned detour for Route 2004 (Meadow Gap Road) in Springfield Township, Huntingdon County, for a bridge replacement project.
From Tuesday, July 14, through Thursday, August 13, 2026, a 9.4-mile detour will reroute traffic on Route 2004 (Meadow Gap Road) using Route 2005 (Elliots Run Road), Route 475 (Maddensville Pike), and Route 2023 (Grissinger Road/Mt Carmel Road).
Wen-Brooke Contracting, Inc., Three Springs, Pa., is the lead contractor for the $802,213 bridge replacement project, which includes replacing the steel I-beam bridge built in 1937 over Lick Run in Springfield Township, between the intersections for Fleck Road and Covert Road, with a precast concrete box culvert. The project is expected to be completed in September 2026.
As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Drivers should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.
