Detour Planned Next Week for Route 96 (Center Street) in Hyndman, Bedford County for Railroad Crossing Maintenance

On behalf of Norfolk Southern Railroad, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is informing drivers of an upcoming road closure and detour of Route 96 (Center Street) in Hyndman, Bedford County, for railroad crossing maintenance.

Route 96 (Center Street) in Hyndman, Bedford County, be closed and detoured for approximately two (2) to three (3) days between Monday, June 15, and Thursday, June 18, 2026. Length of the closure is dependent on several factors, including track time, equipment issues, and weather.   

The Route 96 (Center Street) detour will use Central 3rd Avenue and Market Street to avoid the railroad crossing maintenance.

As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Drivers should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.
