Nacelle and Windmill Blade Deliveries This Week and Next Through Bedford, Blair, Cambria, and Somerset Counties to Ogle Township Wind Farm

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advising motorists of the potential for lengthy delays from the movement of superloads consisting of windmill blades and parts through Blair, Bedford, Cambria and Somerset counties on Thursday and Friday this week, and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

Destined for the Cambria Wind LLC. Farm off Route 56 in Ogle Township, Somerset County, the superloads are scheduled to travel south from Clearfield and Centre counties on Thursday, February 12, and Friday, February 13, with additional loads traveling north from Maryland on Friday, February 13; Monday, February 16; Tuesday, February 17; and Wednesday, February 18.

Nacelles are scheduled to leave Clearfield County at 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM Thursday, February 12, and travel through Centre and Blair counties on Interstate 99 (I-99), on U.S. 22 through Blair and Cambria counties, and on U.S. 219 and Route 56 (Scalp Avenue) in Cambria and Somerset counties to the destination.

Windmill blades will depart from Maryland at 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM each day on Friday, February 13; Monday, February 16; Tuesday, February 17; and Wednesday, February 18, travel through Bedford County on U.S. 220/I-99, and Route 56 (Quaker Valley Road/Clear Shade Drive) through Bedford and Somerset Counties to the wind farm.

Drivers should remain alert for these slow-moving, two-lane operations and use alternate routes when possible. Traveling both the posted speed limit and slower as needed, superloads will occasionally pull over to allow traffic to pass.  Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage.
