The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is developing plans for a project that includes the replacement of the bridge on Route 271 (24th Street / Nicktown Hill Road) in Northern Cambria, Cambria County.
The project consists of the replacement of the bridge superstructure, minor roadway approach work, and upgrading guiderails, signs, and pavement markings to meet current standards. The project timeframe is June 2028 to August 2028 and a detour will be implemented over a three-week period during construction to allow the contractor full access to the bridge.
For those interested in learning more about this project, a public meeting and plans display is scheduled for Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Northern Cambria Borough Building, 1202 Philadelphia Avenue, Northern Cambria, Pa. 15714. The plans display will be conducted in an open house format. The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed project.
The meeting location is accessible to persons with disabilities. Anyone having special needs or requiring special aid is asked to contact PennDOT prior to the meeting. If you require additional information concerning the meeting, please contact Joel M. Gallagher, P.E., Project Manager, at (814) 317-3063.
