The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advising motorists of the potential for minor delays on 17th Street between Osgood Drive and McMahon Drive in the City of Altoona and Logan Township starting next week.

During the week of Monday, October 13, through Friday, October 17, the project contractor will be implementing short-term lane closures during daylight hours on 17th Street between Osgood Drive and McMahon Drive to perform drainage upgrades and concrete patching. During subsequent weeks, work will continue during overnight hours from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime, Inc., New Enterprise, Pa., is the contractor for the $23,500,000 project, which includes improvements along 10-miles of I-99 from the median cross-over near Newry to 17th Street exit in Blair County.

As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage.

Additionally, PennDOT reminds motorists that as of June 5, 2025, the "Paul Miller's Law" is in effect. This law prohibits the use of hand-held devices while driving, even while stopped temporarily due to traffic, a red light, or other momentary delay. Violation of this law is punishable by way of summary citations issued by any Pennsylvania Law Enforcement officer. We strongly urge motorists to make safe choices, put phones out of reach and don’t text and drive.
