Expect a northbound right lane closure this weekend.
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) reminded travelers today that the contractor has scheduled weekend bridge work on the northbound Route 222 bridge over North Church Street in West Earl Township, Lancaster County.
The work area is in the right lane of northbound Route 222 between the left lane and the far-right Route 222 on-ramp acceleration lane from Route 772 at the Brownstown/ Rothsville interchange. This work will be conducted from 7:00 PM Friday, September 18, until 6:00 AM on Monday, September 21.
The contractor is also finishing work on the southbound lanes of Route 222. The far-right deceleration lane of southbound Route 222 for the exit ramp to Route 772 on the bridge over North Church Street remains closed until 6:00 AM Friday, September 18. Two thru lanes of Route 222 and the off-ramp remain open to traffic. Travelers are advised to use caution when using the ramp for Brownstown/Rothsville.
Most of the roadwork for this project has been completed. However, lane and possible ramp closures on Route 222 are necessary to finish the remaining items of work.
This work is part of a 3.3-mile pavement preservation project on Route 222 in Manheim, Warwick, and West Earl townships, Lancaster County. This project consists of bituminous resurfacing, full-width milling, base repair, concrete patching, guide rail updates, line painting, and sign updates on northbound and southbound Route 222 from the Bushong Road overhead bridge to the Pool Road overhead bridge.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $8,486,591 project.
