Single-lane restrictions planned in both directions; Expect delays
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) reminded travelers today that work is scheduled this weekend on Interstate 83 in York County. The project limits extend from about 1.5 miles north of Exit 28 (Route 297/Strinestown/Zions View) to just south of Exit 32 (Route 382/Newberrytown) in Newberry Township.
Weather permitting, the contractor will resume work on Friday, May 1, at 9:00 PM and work through the weekend until Monday, May 4, at 6:00 AM. There will be single-lane restrictions in both directions during work hours.
This work will be to replace drainage and median barrier. Work will continue during the same hours for four more weekends, skipping the Memorial Day weekend (May 22-25).
Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to use caution when driving through work zones for their safety, as well as for the safety of the road crews.
This project consists of overlay, milling, base replacement, barrier replacement, minor drainage improvements, pavement markings, and other miscellaneous construction.
Pennsy Supply, Inc., of Harrisburg is the contractor for this $4,678,000 project. All work is expected to be completed by September 17, 2026.
