Resurfacing Project to Begin on I-83 in Newberry Township, York County

Lane restrictions on I-83

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a resurfacing project on Interstate 83 in York County is scheduled to begin Monday, April 6. The project limits extend from just south of Exit 32 (Route 382/Newberrytown) to about 1.5 miles north of Exit 28 (Route 297/Strinestown/Zions View) in Newberry Township.

Weather permitting, work will begin Monday, April 6. The contractor will work during daylight hours the first week, then move to nights the following week until the project is completed.

There will be lane restrictions during work hours.

Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to use caution when driving through work zones for their safety, as well as for the safety of the road crews.

This project consists of overlay, milling, base replacement, barrier replacement, minor drainage improvements, pavement markings, and other miscellaneous construction.

Pennsy Supply, Inc., of Harrisburg is the contractor for this $4,678,000 project. All work is expected to be completed by September 17, 2026.
