Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that work under districtwide line painting contracts is expected to begin after the Independence Day holiday weekend. These operations include the application of white and yellow waterborne pavement lines on various routes and ramps in the PennDOT District 8 region of southcentral Pennsylvania consisting of Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York counties.
Weather permitting, night work will begin Monday, July 6, on limited access highways such as Route 15, Interstate 81, Interstate 83, Interstate 283, Route 283, and Route 581 among others. Line painting operations will be conducted Sunday through Thursday between 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM, and between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM in the Harrisburg, Lancaster, and York metropolitan areas.
These will be slow-moving mobile operations. Drivers should be alert and give line painting vehicles plenty of room to operate. They should avoid driving over freshly painted lines.
The Aero-Mark Company LLC, of Aurora, OH, is the contractor for two projects totaling $2,261,000. All work is expected to be completed by October 30, 2026.
